Ferns/Palms/Cycads > Advice please
All the new fronds that have grown so far have small holes in them, a variation of small white/yellow holes, and holes with brown edges towards the crown. Initially the first one that showed any abnormalities just had small translucent yellow spots and some small brown spots. But since then the newer leaves had small holes in them instead. Now theres four affected fronds. I suspect it's because I was overwatering the plant. Is there anything that I can do? Is it better to have removed the affected fronds in the earlier stage?
Hey Steffanielli. You don't say which plant it is but we know it's a palm or cycad. One things seems most unlikely is that you would be overwatering - this is really unlikely to cause the symptoms you describe. Much more likely is some sort of pest infestation. As this is difficult to diagnose remotely I'd suggest taking a pice of affected foliage to your local nursery so they can inspect it closely. You are then most likely to find out how to treat it. And yes, normally it is good to remove any pest or disease infected foliage or fronds from a plant and also remove them from your garden. Many people cut bad bits off plants and toss them in their compost - therefore keeping the problem within their garden - not a good idea.
