Hey Ron, yes these two plants are often confused, though I must say that the Pyrostegia venusta, otherwise known as the 'Flame Vine' or 'Golden Shower' is perhaps the most spectacular. It is also seen a lot in the Central coast region of NSW and Sydney's northern suburbs, flowering in winter and early springtime.
Tecomaria capensis or 'Cape Honeysuckle' on the other hand is less floriferous but does have nice foliage as well. These tend to flower from early summer through to autumn.
