Shrivelling leaves often mean too much or too little water, the presence of insects or fungi.
We have had a lot of rain this summer, the soil in many garden is very wet and beds that previously seemed well drained are now showing signs of water logging. To help improve the drainage add some organic matter like compost or lucerne to the top layer of the soil. These conditions are hard to change without digging up the tree, hopefully we have more sunny, dry days and the soil will drain naturally.
