Hibiscus syriacus Lavender Chiffon is an open and vase shaped, bushy, deciduous shrub with arching branches.
From late spring through to autumn it produces really very showy, large (10cms) trumpet-shaped lavender flowers with a deep red veined centre, surrounded with mauve/lavender lacy ruffles.
It will flower profusely (albeit blooms only lasting for one day) and makes for a good background shrub as part of a border or as a semi-deciduous hedge or feature. They also go particularly well when planted in drifts (en masse) in larger areas like parks or on large properties where the resulting colour is spectacular.
It prefers full sun and will tolerate anything from the harsh western sun to part shade.
This a low maintenance plant, once established it will tolerate frost, mild drought, pollution and neglect.
Probably the easiest way to get some tropical feel into almost any garden. Also one of the easiest plants to grow and propagate.
