Typhonium roxburghii or the Dwarf Voodoo Lily is a clump forming, tuberous perennial that produces glossy, mid green leaves that are triangular to heart shaped.
But it is the spathes that they are best known for which are deep maroon to brown and velvety in texture whilst also being horribly pungent - some say it smelling like a dead rat.
The long protruding spadix which spirals upwards is also reminiscent of a rats tail.
This plant is a relative of the Amorphophallus tritanum, quite possibly the stinkiest plant on the planet, some politely say 'maldodorous'.
