Grevillea alpina is a really attractive but variable shrub that flowers for most of the year.
It is varies not only in its form which can be prostrate or more upright to 2m but also in the shape of its leaves and colour of its flowers.
The leaves are small and hairy with margins that can curl inwards or outwards. The flowers are small claw-like spider flowers found either on the ends of branches or in the leaf axials. The flowers can be red, yellow, red and yellow, yellow and white, red and white or pink and white.
This lovely plant can be used in rockeries, shrubberies and native gardens. They are very good at attracting birds.
The name alpina is rather misleading as they do not grow well in alpine areas. They prefer areas with dry summers and will not do well in areas of high summer humidity.
