Pinus parviflora or the Japanese White Pine is a majestic, evergreen conifer with a broad, spreading columnar habit and twisted branches.
It has tufts of short, needle-like leaves that are a blue green colour.
The purpley, bark is an attractive feature of this tree and it also produces linear red/brown cones.
A good, large tree, excellent for shade and for habit contrast.
N.B. The fallen needles will cause the soil below to become acidic, making it difficult to grow some plants underneath.
A popular bonsai specimen.
