Callistemon viminalis is a lovely weeping tree with linear dark green leaves that are pinky-purple when young.
Deep red bottlebrush flowers up to 8cms long are produced in spring with some spot flowering throughout the year.
These plants are a major source of street colour being a favourite of municipal plantsmen, probably because they are so trouble free. They are tolerant of 2nd line salt, and will tolerate mild frosts.
This useful small tree produces an explosion of colour and attracts honey eating birds to gardens making a lovely statement that springtime has well and truly arrived.
As a weeper it makes a great statement beside a pond or stream, much better than the European Willow imports.
