Onions like well limed soil rich in organic matter. Dig trenches 10 -15 cm wide and 5cm deep and then add fertiliser along the side of the trenches.
Refill the trench and sow the seed in the centre of the previous trench. Space the seedlings approximately 10cm apart, with a space of 30 cm between each row.
The onions will be ready for pulling and storing approximately 6 to 7 months from sowing the seed.
