Placed in a woodland setting the Giant's Head or Mud Man has a magical feel, Lost Gardens of Heligan
These gardens are one of the best known in England as there are many books and TV programmes describing the restoration to their formal glory.
As you wander the over 200 acres of garden you can marvel at the vision and determination of those who brought the gardens back to life.
There is a lot to see so allow a full day to really enjoy the experience.
The Northern Garden is closest to the entrance, in this area can be found the Victorian Productive Garden (grows over 200 varieties of fruit and vegetables), the Vegetable Garden, the Walled Flower Garden, Melon Yard and the Italian Garden.
The Jungle is located in a valley and contains sub tropical plants, enjoy a walk along the raised boardwalk through avenues of palms, past giant rhubarb plants and tunnels of bamboos.
The Wider Estate consists of ancient pastures, woodland and wetlands, as well as networks of watercourses, ponds and lakes.
The Horsemoor Hide and Wildlife Project offers an opportunity to view wildlife either live from the large viewing platform or via video (both live and recorded) footage of the wildlife of the gardens.

Restaurants The gardens has two tea rooms and a bakery. Don't miss out on the wonderful Cornish Cream Teas.
Shop The shop offers a large range of gifts including products made of timber from the Heligan Wood Project. The shop is open everyday except Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Easter Sunday.
There is also a Plant Centre that sells a wide range of plants that can be seen growing in the gardens. These include plants from the Heligan Heritage Collection.
Disabled Access There is disabled parking close to the entrance - let the attendants know as you enter the car park. There are toilet facilities close to the entrance. The shop and tea rooms are all have wheelchair access. Manual wheelchairs are available to borrow from our Visitor Reception on a first-come first-served basis. Most of the gardens are accessible by wheelchair, an access guide can be downloaded from their website.
By Car From St Austell take the B3273 towards Mevagissey and follow the brown tourist signs to “The Lost Gardens of Heligan”.
By Train The nearest railway station is St Austell, from there take the 526 bus to the gardens
By Bus Western Greyhound bus route 526 links Heligan with Mevagissey, Gorran Haven and St Austell.
