Kerria japonica or the Yellow Japanese Rose is a rangy, deciduous shrub with stems emerging directly from the ground and small diamond shaped leaves that have serrated margins.
The most noted feature of this plant is the marvellous buttercup-like, golden flowers that appear along the branches in springtime.
They really are outstanding, making a very strong splash of colour.
There is also a double flowered variety called "Pleniflora" which is most common.
