Sarcandra glabra or Senryo as it is called in Japan is a subshrub that is often treated as a woody herb.
It has deep green, serrated leaves and produces attractive clusters of bright red berries which follow fairly insignificant, cream coloured flowers.
There is also a yellow berried variety that is even more attractive as they tend to really stand out in its native environment in the gloom under trees and in thickets.
They are frost, heat and drought resistant.
