Chlorophytum orchidastrum is a warm climate plant (or can be grown indoors) that has broad, glossy, deep green leaves and a strongly contrasting golden yellow stem.
The leaves form a neat but spreading rosette above the fleshy rhizomatous tubers
They produce rather small creamy white flowers that are held aloft on erect stems and are followed by bulbous green seed pods that turn brown as they mature.
If grown indoors keep out of direct sunlight but in a bright location. If outdoors then dappled or bright shade is best.
In warmer climates these plants make a very attractive ground cover in shady areas and they also go well in pots and planters.
