Parodia mammulosa or the Tom Thumb Cactus is a globose, perennial cactus with a flattened top that grows to about 10 cms high and 6 cms wide
thew akin is dark green and heavily ribbed, around 18 in all, which each carry bursts of sharply pointed and interlacing spines.
In spring they produce spectacular open faced flowers around 5cms across in yellow or sometimes in pink.
This is a very variable species with many cross pollinations creating small variations.
