Greigii tulips are clearly distinguished from other species by their green and purple striped leaves and richly coloured of their blooms.
Their more compact size makes them ideal for pots, tubs and rockeries.
Soil: Well drained soils of most types are tolerated, but do not overwater or the bulbs may rot if drainage is not good enough.
Maintenance: Fertilise with a weak liquid general purpose solution as the foliage emerges in spring.
Non-hybrid tulips last much longer than hybrids so you can leave them in the soil for several years without much care required.
Toxicity: The foliage, stems, roots and berries are all toxic, and in particular the bulbs contain the greatest amount of (tulipalin) toxic chemicals.
