Protea neriifolia or the Blue Sugarbush is an attractive evergreen shrub with narrow, linear, leathery leaves that have a downy texture.
The fabulous cup-shaped, red/pink flowers are borne in spring and summer at the ends of the branches and are unusual in that the tips of the pink petal-like bracts are fringed with black hairs.
It is of open habit and prefers a sunny spot while tolerating a light frost when established.
They make wonderful cut flowers that can be dried and will last for a long time.
