Carya illionensis or Pecan Nut Tree is a very large tree only suitable for estates and parks.
It has an open, rounded crown and the trunk sports attractive grey, furrowed bark.
The leaves are mid green, turning yellow in autumn before falling.
The flowers are quite insignificant, but are followed by the tasty nuts.
Like many nut trees, they can sometimes take a few years before they bear any nuts.
