Illicium anisatum is a slow growing, evergreen shrub or small tree with a conical habit.
It has wonderfully fragrant (Anise), glossy, dark green leaves that are lance shaped with blunt tips.
Perfumed, greenish-yellow, star-shaped flowers are borne in spring. - but when we say 'perfumed' we mena a rather fishy odour which attracts the right sort of pollinators
Along with the leaves and flowers, the bark of this plant is also fragrant.
