Fraxinus griffithii is a smaller Fraxinus species growing in most conditions to 6m.
It is an evergreen with a lovely broad crown of soft foliage. It makes a great feature tree, and can be pruned and used as a pleached hedge.
The pinnate leaves are glossy, pale green with a silvery underside.
In spring, many terminal panicles of very small insignificant flowers are produced giving the tree a fluffy look. The flowers are followed by brown samara which remain most of winter.
This species originates in SE Asia and prefers warmer conditions, it tends not to grow well in cooler climates and is only marginally frost tolerant.
This plant is considered to be an INVASIVE ENVIRONMENTAL WEED
