Sorbus aucuparia or Mountain Ash is a medium sized, deciduous tree.
It has pinnate foliage that is divided into about a dozen small-toothed, light green leaflets that are miod green in spring and summer and turn to gold in autumn.
White, fluffy flowers precede clusters of scarlet red berry fruits, which are very tart to taste but can be used to make good jams.
Often used as an accent specimen in the middle of a lawn or can also contribute well to wild or woodland gardens.
Mountain Ash is tolerant of air pollution and prefers cooler climates.
