Catmint or Nepeta Mussini is a smaller, decorative catmint with blueish purple flowers and it has a strong sedative, narcotic like effect on cats.
They are repeatedly attracted to this shrub and will roll or rub against it and become quite docile.
It makes an excellent groundcover and planted under a tree on the sunny side it will attract cats away from the other parts of the garden.
It is a stalwart of the cottage garden and attracts bees and other pollinators to the garden.
Plant the seeds shallowly indoors in cold areas about a month prior to the last frost and transplant into the garden when established.
It grows to 30 cm and should be spaced 35-45 cm apart.
It likes mildly alkaline soil, full sun to dappled sun and rich soil which is well drained.
