Nicotiana alata is a slender perennial in warmer climates (annual in others) with large light green, soft leaves and it bears clusters of tubular flowers in shades of red, white and pink.
The flowers open in the evening and are intensely fragrant, filling the still evening air with their olefactory delights. It is only marginally frost hardy.
