Tabernaemontana cerifera or the Paper Gardenia is a small to medium evergreen tree or shrub that has deep green, glossy foliage not unlike Gardenia plants, hence their common name.
It has milky sap and produces fragrant, tubular flowers that splay open, the five petals having a frilly edge.
They make a good informal hedge or make a good rear-guard to a deep border or shrubbery, though they are largely grown in warmer climates for their fragrant flowers.
