Mimetes culcullatus or the Red Pagoda plant is a member of the Protea family and displays it distinctive good looks with attractive red and green foliage all year round on multiple stems.
Small, fluffy white flowers are produced from winter through to late spring that nestle in amongst the upright foliage.
These are compact and fast growing plants that go well in most garden styles but are particularly well suited to informal, Mediterranean and rock gardens.
These easy to grow plants go well in containers and are happy to be exposed to coastal winds.
Like many plants from South Africa, especially the Proteaceas, they make excellent cut flowers.
