Lobelia aberdarica or the Giant African Lobelia is an evergreen perennial that creates attractive rosettes of dark green, glossy leaves that feature a central white stripe.
The plant produces multiple offsets that will eventually form a sizeable clump.
Flowering time is impressive with an imposing flower stalk rising above the rosettes of foliage which is covered with scores of small, mauve flowers.
When in bloom this will be a real talking point in your garden, though the rest of the time its very attractive foliage will add a soft and shapely interest.
This is a high altitude, cool climate plant that may not enjoy very hot and humid conditions but should prove to be marginally frost hardy.
