Abelia schumannii is an upright, deciduous shrub with a "fountain-like" habit and arching, red, cane-like branches.
The leaves are small with pointed tips, and the new growth is bronze/red turning glossy green.
White and lilac, bell-shaped flowers are borne at the tips of the arching stems and are slightly scented.
This is a good filler shrub that can handle a variety of light conditions and therefore fill difficult corners of your garden.
The foliage is attractive and the delicate flowers an added bonus.
