Stachys macrantha is an erect perennial with soft, downy, dark green leaves that have a wrinkled appearance.
Striking spikes of purpley/red flowers are produced in summer and stand erect, above the foliage creating the appearance of a mass of colour when in full boom.
They are an excellent border plant, go well as part of a mixture in pots and planters and also go very well besides water features and streams.
They make good cut flowers too.
Cultivars include:
'Rosea' and 'Robusta'
