Passiflora coccinea is a long-lived, rapid growing, evergreen vine which supports itself with tendrils.
It has glossy, bright green, serrated and softly indented leaves.
Deep sacrlet flowers with a white/purple/red crown in the centre are borne in mid winter and spring.
This is largely grown as an ornamental passionfruit though the fruits are edible, albeit that they are not as well known or appreciated as Passiflora edulis.
