A broad domed evergreen tree with a short trunk and very dense canopy.
The leaves of this dense tree are compound, each leaf has 11-15 sickle shaped leaflets. The leaves are a reddish colour when young and turn a glossy dark green as they mature.
This tree bears blossoms of yellowy green in summer. These are followed by a fleshy/pulpy plum like fruit which is edible.
An excellent shade tree because of its thick canopy and also a good street tree and park tree because of it's size and ability to withstand drought and soil compaction.
NB. This tree is dioecious (male and female flowers are borne on separate plants), so it's essential to have both a male and female tree to bear fruit.
