Metasequoia glyptostroboides or the Dawn Redwood is a large deciduous conifer of conical shape.
It has delicate, divided foliage that is light green, becoming rose brown and finally turns gold in autumn.
The red/brown bark turns grey with age.
If grown as a tree it is much too large for the average size garden however it can be clipped to a tall hedge with some success.
