Suited best to hanging baskets, Columnea gloriosa is an evergreen epiphyte (it is an air plant).
It has trailing hairy stems and fleshy, hairy leaves and produces attractive scarlet flowers throughout spring and summer that are tubular but upturned to hold nectar for hummingbirds to drink from.
It likes a humid, warm environment and can be grown in glasshouses or indoors.
Great for hanging baskets.
