Clumps of shiny grass-like foliage surround the single star shaped flowers borne on short, slender stems.
Though flowering in summer/autumn they may also produce flowers at other times - particularly after heavy rain.
Marginally frost hardy, they will tolerate some drought, though are likely to spring into flower after autumn rains.
They go particularly well under trees and are best when planted en-masse as edging to borders or in large pots and tubs.
