Phyla nodiflora or Lippia is a fast growing, spreading, perennial plant sometimes used as a lawn substitute as it can withstand a lot of foot-traffic.
We must warn however that it is a noxious weed and we do not recommend domestic cultivation. see here or further information https://weeds.dpi.nsw.gov.au/Weeds/Lippia
Please note that Phyla canescens is considered the most serious problem and is declared a noxious weed, while Phyla nodiflora is allowed to be sold in nurseries, though it still has potential to escape cultivation and cause environmental problems.
It has lance-shaped, slightly hairy leaves and wide heads of white to pinkish flowers with a purple centre that appear from late spring through to autumn.
It forms a dense mat of foliage with the flowers held slightly aloft.
Lippia is drought tolerant and the flowers are attractive to bees.
