Scilla peruviana or the Peruvian Lily is a bulbous perennial which has dark to olive green, strap-like leaves.
In spring it bears a cone-shaped, large head of up to 50 star-shaped purple/blue flowers on a 30cm long stem.
Often it appears to need a year to recover from this effort before being able to repeat the performance.
This is a strikingly attractive plant - blue flowers are always good but blue flowers making a perfect halo are spectacular.
