Overview
Quercus palustris is a majestic, deciduous tree with a pyramidal outline and green, divided, deeply lobed foliage which is terrific in autumn and slow to drop off.
Its lower branches will hang down gracefully almost to the ground and its trunk is smooth and grey. Justifiably polular because of its fast growth and graceful appearance.
Soil: Prefers well drained loams but will tolerate more moist soils.
Maintenance: Annual feed with balanced, slow rlease fertiliser. Do not prune, it doesn't like it.
Diseases: Oak leaf miner in humid climates
Other Species: 600 species altogether
Comments: Oak is one of the best timbers for woodworking, being hard and attractive.
